Be Grateful and enjoy this Thanksgiving season and Thanksgiving Day celebration with family and friends. Give thanks in everything. You have much to thank God for. Even if things are not going well thank God in everything and situation for, we serve a God that is good and who will work everything for your good. (See Romans 8:28) Think about it and then thank the Lord.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 Paul writes, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (NIV). God’s command is “In everything give thanks”; and the command is emphasized by the declaration, “for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (1 Thess. 5:18, KJV). It is an actual positive command. If we want to obey God, we have simply got to give thanks in everything. There is no getting around it.
Sometimes we have to Hallelujah, anyway from the hurting heart! What does that mean? We must believe God is blessing us always, and we must be thankful at all times. Instead of blaming God and complaining when things go wrong, thank God anyway. Believe that God will turn a tragedy into a triumph. It does not mean you understand the occurrence, don’t hurt and that you don’t cry. It means you will still have a thankful heart and praise the Lord for who He is.
Hallelujah Anyway
Even if everything is not like what you want it to be, give thanks to God anyway. About 5 years ago my family had to celebrate the unexpected homegoing services of my respected and loved 38-year-old cousin who died of an asthma attack, two days after Thanksgiving Day. Imagine the broken hurts of his parents and his brand-new wife. Lord have mercy. Yet we gave thanks to God for strength and comfort. He still is a good God.
Why? Because God is still worthy to be praised and to be thankful for His daily blessings and for all He has done. No, you are not to be thankful for the sickness or problem. But in the circumstances remember and thank God for His faithfulness, His unfathomable love for you, and know that He can turn circumstances around and bring victory, peace, deliverance, love and joy..
When we pray and give thanks to God, even when it’s hard to, we are promised to be given grace and faith. Meditate over the scriptures herein during times of distress, sadness, or any time of the year to strengthen your heart, improve your outlook, or just make a joyful noise.
O give thanks unto the Lord! Call upon His name; make known his deeds among the people!(1 Chronicle16:8-10) No matter what the circumstance give thanks that you have a prayer hearing God, that has an unfathomable love for and that you are more than a conqueror.
